Heart Friends Around The World – Indian Affiliated Chapter (HFATW-IAC) is an international movement, born from previous experiences of the association, which maintains the basic structure, including the existing affiliated groups, and aims to promote human health through a path that develops the body, mind, and spirit.
HFATW-IAC founded in 1996 in Kolkata, India by Dr. K.K. Hyder Siddiqui for the promotion, prevention, and rehabilitation of cardiovascular disease predominantly from low and middle income countries.
HFATW-IAC a branch of Heart Friends Around the World , Bergamo , Italy which was affiliated to World Heart Federation, collaborates with physicians, cardiologists, and patients worldwide, and believes in the importance of everyday life, and in the relationship between body and mind. It also considers the education of women as a priority for their health and that of their families.
HFATW-IAC believes that the body needs a balanced diet, with an adequate supply of water, sugars, proteins, and fats, while recommending the consumption of fruits and vegetables several times a day. Just as hunger must be fought, so must the excessive intake of calories, which leads to obesity, diabetes, and the development of chronic non-communicable diseases that must be avoided.
HFATW-IAC proposes the practice of regular physical activity with moderate muscle engagement. Slow and prolonged running is a good basis for maintaining health and the associated state of mental and physical well-being.
HFATW-IAC believes that the proper use of medicines can help maintain the state of health obtained through treatment of disease. It also believes that the pharmacological correction of potential risk factors is a practice to be encouraged, according to the results of updated scientific publications. It further proposes taking action to produce new drugs at low cost so that they can be used even in developing countries, protecting the right to health as an inalienable right of every human being.
HFATW-IAC considers that, in the relationship between doctor and patient, a positive attitude is a vital component in building confidence and mutual trust, which are so important for the recovery of health.
HFATW-IAC is confident in the creativity of all healthcare workers and citizens who recognize this Manifesto, so that they may become carriers of this thought and help disseminate it.
