Dr. Flavio Burgarella

Dr. Flavio Burgarella is a cardiologist, physiatrist, and researcher in the Sciences of Consciousness. For 40 years, he served as Head of Cardiology at the Dr. Quarenghi Rehabilitation Center in San Pellegrino Terme, the third center in Italy dedicated to the care of ischemic patients and those who had undergone cardiac surgery. Over these years, approximately 40,000 patients were treated in the beds under his clinical responsibility.
He is the founder of the international association Heart Friends Around the World, from which several independent branches have emerged, each developing its own personalized pathway.
He conducted a study using cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMR) which demonstrated, in a still limited sample of patients, the possibility of achieving remote ventricular remodeling through consciousness-based information.
He was the first in the world to accompany one of his patients to run the New York City Marathon, supporting him throughout the entire 42-kilometer course, emphasizing the fundamental importance of physical activity in cardiac rehabilitation. He also organized and participated several times in the Running Tour of Italy, involving both healthy individuals and patients with heart disease.
